paradise lost

It´s home tomorrow where I bet it is not 83 degrees and sunny. I will post my photos ASAp but for now you will have to take my word for it that the water is turquoise, the cerveza is fria and I am brown as a nut. I may have to drink heavily.

Ola gente

I know last year I blogged way more from down here but this year, I have about no interest in anything but the total relaxation regime. Eat, read, drink, beach, drink, eat, drink, sleep. Our hotel is very nice in the Mexican way. The night before last there was a giant fracas outside our door in the next room with some drunken guy yelling F*** you that we later find out is the groom from some wedding party and he was yelling at his sister who has a really bad cough that we can hear through the wall of our room.

Today it is raining and looks like it will all day so there will be a lot reading and no doubt a lot of drinking later on. I have hardly taken any photos.

Oooooohhhh Mexico

So I am in a play. "You Can't Take it with You". Runs March 23-April 1 at the First United Methodist Church. I play Penny Sycamore, the ditzy mother of a family that includes Melissa in the foreground as my daughter Essie and those 2 other people who are the servants, Rheba and Donald. They're supposed to be black people as you could do that politically incorrect stuff when this play was writtin 1936. So now they're just crackers. We had our first read-through today and there are still 5 men's parts that are unfilled. Anybody feeling thespian-ish?

Saturday night, we went to see the Danger Brothers out at Olscamp Hall as the entertainment after the Realtors annual dinner. Everyone was really drunk but didn't have the manners to clap when the band finished a song. Here are Paul Yon and Ann Bowers dancing.

Friday night, I had some wimmen over for pasta and salad and bread and wine. A lot of wine. Then I called Dan and Luci who showed up and we drank more wine. Sheesh.

Tuesday, Mexico. I will post to the blog but no pictures until I return. Mmmm, 85 degrees every day. I will have a drink for each and every one of you.

It's soooooooo interesting

Saturday I watched The Devil Wears Prada which is a fabulous movie, like an old movie, lots of stylish outfits and morals like Your friends and family are better than lonely fame. Meryl Streep should get an Oscar. Then I watched Capote starring Philip Seymour Hoffman which was very good. But not as good as TDWP. Then I read the entire new novel by Cormac McCarthy called The Road which is one of my favorite categories, post-apocalyptic fiction. It was strange but not as gory as Blood Meridien or some others.

Today, finally, I got my floors washed from the holiday herd of buffalos. And cooking school can be done sober!! It's amazing. I made some butternut squash bisque with hot Thai chili paste and honey. Maybe a tad too much chili paste. And I have the world's tuffest roast in the crockpot. Hmmm, I shoulda known by looking at it. Perhaps I will leave it in there all night. Perhaps I shoulda put it on low. Also I did a 45-minute Pilates tape.

Mexico in nine days.

Blinded by the light

I went to the optometrist tonight and they put drops in my eyes and then I couldn't see for several hours. They said it would just affect my seeing up close but I could hardly drive because all the lights were giant glowing orbs. So I came home and diddled around.

Here are pictures from Wynn and Steve's Red and Green Ball, provided by Deb H. You can tell I didn't take these because nobody's head is cut off.

Those girls are sure cute.

Steve decides Red Green is the theme.

Those holidays were exhausting

We had the ornament exchange/pigout at work the Friday before Christmas.

Michele and Ann
Becky and Barb

Well, there was that party (see December) and then I geared up for Christmas. My daughter came home the 23rd and that was Santa Baby night, from which I have no pictures except these ones of other people in the bar that night.

Sunday, my mom and sister came up with my sister's dog and then Tom came home that afternoon and we had the big Christmas eve dinner and gift exchange. Then there was general hootenanny with the kids on the guitar.

Christmas day, I went to Amy's for dinner and later we went to the bar with Annie and watched our children cavort. It was wonderful having those kids home.

I was off work until Friday the 29th.

Sunday was New Year's Eve at Fred and Sherry's. Much food was eaten, much beverage was drunk and many cards were played.

I did a radio show Monday afternoon and since then I have been worn out. Only today did some semblance of order return to my home.
