Picture-o-rama

Remember: Click on a picture to see a larger version. Listening to the bootleg Todd from Buford, last December in Austin. Where I will be this Christmas.

Also Amy and I have decided that the Pomeroy blues festival is just unnecessary this weekend. So I'll be on the radio.

Look. Here is my house on Google earth map or whatever it is. You have to click on the street view and then swing it around to the left. Here's Amy's house.

A pic from the BG fireworks which went on to a good conclusion but then we got in the car to leave and there were more and apparently another finale. Who was in charge of this??

Here's the east half of my front yard.

And the west half.

The dining room at Westcott House, a Frank Lloyd Wright house in Springfield, OH, that Sherry and Amy and I visited a couple weeks ago. This pic was taken surreptitiously as the guide told us no photos although Sherry is still pissed about that Japanese girl and her sneaky little camera taking pix EVERYWHERE.

The front door which is actually at the side. It was a cool tour. Most of the furnishings are reproduction.

The front of the house on E. Main St. Apparently these are the biggest flowerpots FLW ever designed.

They are GIGANTIC.

It's a 2 and a half hour drive. Go I-75 to Troy and then take 41 or whatever to Springfield. And then call me for directions once you get to Springfield.

These steps are fabulous! They are at the next to last house we visited on the Secret Garden tour. July 12.

This is the backyard of that house in the first block of N. Maple with all the flowers in the boulevard, as it is called, I think.

This is the water feature at my favorite house which was on Lorraine.

Unidentified plant shot

Opium poppies for which we got seed pods at some other house.

The birdhouse/chair combo was real popular.

A 14' x 14' gazebo. For future reference.

The Hakels

False indigo. I gotta get me some of this.

The water feature at Gus's parents' house. It was really lovely there.

A bistro setting at Gus's parents.

Sandy Wicks's patio.

Birdhouses. I think I thought this was cute because it is the first one I saw.

Gooseneck loosestrife. I gotta get me some of this.

The chair. Encore.

The circular herb garden at this really hidden place where we actually walked into it from the backyard of the people behind them. Google it.

Yet another spot in that backyard on N. Maple. The place settings were to die for.

The lovely Annette in the swing at our favorite garden on Lorraine.

Here we are at the Dragon Boat Race about 8 a.m. in the rain. We were soaked through our clothes and then we paddled in the pouring rain.

But then it turned out to be a beautiful day and we won our second race in 1:59 and then we were robbed in the third race by being hit on both sides by other boats.

But it was a swell day and I'll probably do it again next year. I'll get Sherry's pix posted soon.

Soggy start to the DRagon BOat race

oh gentle reader

I have failed you big time. I have not blogged at all during July except for the random blog from phone pictures which is the lazy person's approach to blogging.

There was GNO at Sherry's July 1 with divine food and a raucous game of Apples to Apples, thanks to Connie Z.

A reader in South Carolina has sent me several bootleg cds of Todd Snider which are just delightful as you who have seen him know that his live shows are nothing like his CDs. Thank you.

Amy's party on the Fourth was subdued due to the weather which was very cloudy and not so hot. But we played some goofy golf and ate great pulled pork and other comestibles.

Amy and I went out to Chip's the next day for a party with some old friends of his, one of whom had been a French major with me at BGSU back in the day. There was much wine drinking and setting off of fireworks.

We went to Beckett's to get Amy's free steak dinner on her birthday and were so tired afterward, that was the end of her birthday festivity.

July 12 was the Secret Garden Tour which was amazing, seeing all these people's back yards and I have many photos ON MY PHONE which will be posted sometime. While it is easy to TAKE the pictures on the phone, it's cumbersome to send them to my email and retrieve them and post them here. Because I am so busy after all.

Last Thursday, Sherry and Fred took me to the Average White Band/WAR concert at Centennial Terrace where it was a beautiful night and the music was great although frankly, both are mere cover bands now as most original members are long gone.

Today I had lunch with Sal for her birthday at Mancy's Italian. I got her this mirror.

This Saturday is the Dragon Boat racing on the Maumee. We have had practice two nights this week and we are going to kick some serious ass. Come watch us. We race three times that day, the first at 8:40 a.m. which I don't expect to see anybody at. We race in the rain but not if there's lightning so we'll see how the weather is that day.

Amy and I are going to the Pomeroy Blues Bash on Aug. 1 to see Will Kimbrough and Nora Jean Bruso, among others. We are staying at the Meigs Motel which kinda looks like the joint in Psycho.

July 31 has Stacy Mitchhart at the ClaZel, Devon Allman at DeSimone's and Nate Baker at Cucina de Betto. Where will YOU be?

And then it will be August for chrissakes. When during the first week, there is John Nemeth at GFT on Aug. 4, GNO on Aug. 5 at 149 North and Tunafest that weekend. I can't find a lineup for it anywhere although I hear the Welders are Friday night.

Rod's Collision at the ClaZel Aug. 14.

Wallace Coleman at Hines Farm this Saturday and Billy Branch there Aug. 15 when it is the Festival but no others listed but Mudfoot.

The Subdudes are at the Ark Nov. 17 which is a Tuesday but I may have to go anyway. Tickets on sale this Saturday. I'll buy some. We'll talk later.

My DVD player I use for my CDs died so I guess I should move on to the MP3 music. And pay more than $30 for the next DVD player I buy since these last two have lasted less than 2 years.

My baby turns 24 Saturday.
