gone a lot

See all those little red yin-yang symbols on this calendar? I will be gone those days. I am counting on Annie to feed my cats those days except Sept. 30 when we are both going to PIB and I believe those cats can just eat light for a couple of days. Just so you know. My next possible radio show is Oct. 7 but the BG football game that day is still TBA so I could be bumped. So pretty much, it's "See you in October." I miss you all already.

Here is the stage Friday night with no roof, it having blown off around 4 p.m.

Fortunately, it was a beautiful night.

Bill Kirchen played the main stage Friday night.

Rev. Horton Heat closed the show and we all went to Nate and Wally's to see Rod's Collision and although it was filled with people I know, all acting like drunken kindergartners, I apparently took no photos.

I went over to Howard's to see the Heartless Bastards who would have been really good with a better sound system.

A professional photographer took this photo of me and an ex-BGSU employee.

Nomo from Ann Arbor played Saturday before noon.

Then the Blue Suit Review played.

Here are some folks gathered round the Huntington Bank courtyard where Bob Manley is going to play with some locals. Bob is the brother of this man's American daughter-in-law.

I only took this picture because this woman whose butt is pictured met the guy she is with on a Fixx message board online and he flew from Australia to Minneapolis and then they drove to BG together to see the Fixx because they are giant Fixx fans.

swamp swamp swamp

Hey some news updates about this weekend.

One, remember Rod's Collision is at Nate and Wally's TONIGHT starting around 11. Also tonight is the Heartless Bastards at Howard's which I might actually pay the money to see. I hear the cover charge is "$10 at most" and I quote a Howard's employee. Also at Howard's is a guitar master, Tim Reynolds, late of the Dave Matthews Band, although I won't hold that against him. This is Sunday. Probably evening, but of course the club's website is way out of date.

And it's ME ON THE RADIO, not once, but twice this weekend as I do the 10-noon part of the Blues Breakfast on Saturday, with McKinley Smith phoning in the remotes from the festival. On Sunday, I'm doing the 4-6 pm show for Julie Haught. So from no show to 2 shows!

GNO was Wednesday at Donna's but I'm behind on picture posting. But I must tell you that there is no Halloween party at Connie and Doug's, which some of us had presumed. So we all have to turn out in our costumery at Gus and Annette's on Oct. 21.

Also, Nerak Roth Patterson, a blues guy from Yellow Springs, is at the Peacock Cafe in Toledo Friday Sept. 15. No internet info on this except that it says the date on Nerak's website and the cafe is located at Madison and 20th downtown.

Let them eat beans!

And so they did.

And some other stuff.

Already I pine for the quiet that will be October. Relatively speaking.

I just finished watching Angels in America, a 6-hour HBO special from some years ago. The main message I got was: The body is the garden of the soul. Say Hallelujah.

Labor Day

Well, it turns out I'm having a Labor Day get-together. Last night, at Fred and Sherry's, I discussed this with Connie Z as if it were a new idea. But today, Gus calls to ask if I'm still having a thing! So perhaps drunken birthday blathering resulted in invitations. Which is way cool. I'm making burgers and dogs. Got me a new tank o propane.

Deb H. divulged her pork recipe to me which is 1 pork tenderloin, covered in thyme and worcestershire sauce, accompanied by 3 onions and some garlic, in the crockpost, 5 hours, take out, pull apart, back in crockpot with BBQ sauce for 2-3 more hours. Mmmm. It was delish.

Today I watched "Team America!" OMG, if you have not seen this, do so. That Trey Parker is one sick man. And how they got those marionettes to have such great facial expressions is amazing.

I went garage sale-ing Sat. am with Miss Jenks and bought a wicker and wire rack for CDs which is great because you can look down on the edges of the CD cases like all racks should be.

And here's the lovely photo Miss Jenks got me for my birthday.

Here's Luci at her retirement party with a big smile and her new bling from Tiffany.
